Virginia Fishing report from guide Sam Scott

Musky fishing in the blue ridge has been absolutely on fire this week! We have landed a total of 12 fish over 40” in the last 7 days including a tank 50” by a first time musky angler as well as a super thick 47” , 46” and 45” ( shown in photos ) . Most days have consisted of 2 or 3 bite windows lasting about an hour each and big fish becoming active around the major every day!

We have caught quite a few of these fish on jigs as well as Big Rubber. Hellbenders and Swimbaits were very productive working deep current seams along eddies and slow moving pockets. I will
Anchor my boat adjacent to these areas and spend long periods of tine really working them thoroughly! Often times we will make 100 casts into a pocket and change lures 4-5 times before a fish decides to turn on and take a bait. When the water is cold and the river is high , find the slow moving deep water and really spend some time working it over with several different presentations. Jigs and big rubber was definitely the ticket this week but next week it could be a whole different ball game!
