Resort Profile: Sandy’s Blackhawk Island on Lake of the Woods
About Us
Sandy’s Blackhawk Island Camp and Canada Fishing Resort is located in Ontario waters at the western shore of Lake of the Woods. This area has long been recognized as one of the better fishing grounds in Lake of the Woods in Ontario Canada. Annually it produces walleyes, northern pike and smallmouth bass in abundance, as well as providing some of the finest muskie fishing in the entire Lake of the Woods.
The stunning international waters of Lake of the Woods provide some of the best fishing in the world. Anglers flock here year-round in search of that elusive record catch. The waters near the Northwest Angle & Islands are home to a variety and volume of fish. Walleye and muskie are king here, but exceptional smallmouth bass, northern pike and crappie fishing can be found, too.
Bill and Cindy Sandy would like to invite you, your family and friends, to spend your vacation with them. They have designed their camp with you and your convenience in mind. Come swap fish stories with them and they may just help you catch that trophy fish.
Lodging
You don’t lose modern amenities when you stay with us.
MODERN LOG CABINS
Sandy’s Blackhawk Island is located along the western shore of Lake of the Woods on a scenic ten-acre island. Five beautiful log cabins have been erected and each is fully furnished for housekeeping accommodations. Direct line electricity, a state of the art water purification system and a new septic field have been installed.
The docking system is second to none. Placed in a protected cove, these floating docks have 32 individual slips. Bumpers and electrical outlets have been placed in each. Gas, oil, and ice are available on site as well.
Our camp is limited to 28 guests at one time with new log cabins that accommodate from two to twelve guests. Each cabin has 1 to 4 bedrooms, bathrooms with flush toilets, showers, hot and cold running water. The cabins are fully furnished for housekeeping, including all cooking utensils, sheets, towels, and blankets.

Northern pike and walleyes are in abundance, in waters within a mile or two of the camp. Smallmouth and largemouth bass are plentiful, with the activity really picking up around the third week of May and continuing throughout the balance of the year.
Guide Service
Come meet legendary guide, Bill Sandy.
Bill Sandy has been fishing Lake of the Woods since he was old enough to paddle a canoe and has been guiding since he was nine years old. For over 40 years, he has been fishing muskies from opener to freeze-up. During this time, he has boated thousands of muskies, averaging well over 300 per season in recent years. Not only is he great at what he does, but he also loves the thrill of the hunt. This drive is clearly evident if you’re ever fortunate enough to be in the boat with him. However, he is also very willing to share his enthusiasm and advice with every guest in the camp. He really wants everyone to succeed and will do what he can to make that happen for you.
