New to the musky fishing scene this year is Barbarian Braid!

Produced and torture tested by owner and angler Rex St Pierre. He and his team of testers spent the past season testing it to be sure it’s the strongest line on the market.

Coming in 90# test rating, it’s a perfect balance of strength and suppleness. 

To quote the Instagram page :

Ultra-high-molecular-weight polyethylene fibers create proven strength, low stretch and top of the food chain abrasion resistance. Per inch crosses offer a negligible break in period, optimal flexibility and a pleasant feel.

It comes only in “bullet-proof black”, which on the water wears into a dull gunmetal shade of gray. . 

I spent some time with it in the boat recently, as my buddy Craig was using it. I can say it handled a couple fish the first day with no issues. Casted far and fast and had no water absorption. It pulled one fish out from a rock pile with no nicks or frays while maintaining it’s slightly waxy feel. 

Being a Canadian company, I know a lot of the southern Ontario musky anglers are using it and have boated a bunch of big fish this year already. A few guys in my Northwestern Ontario area are running it and I’ll get fishing reports over the summer from them.
