New River Fishing Report-Guide Sam Scott

Fishing has been very good this week across the commonwealth. We have done particularly good in my boat fishing big rubber and jigs! With the recent snow fall and subsequent melt , our rivers are seeing a steady flow with great color. Water temps have been hovering between 37-38F. We have seen slower mornings with increasing action throughout the afternoons and very good evening bites right at sunset. Big rubber baits such as the Hellbender and serpents have been putting quality fish in my boat for clients , such as this 47 caught by angler Adam Listopad on a Serpent softplastic right at sunset this weekend. The following day we boated an additional 3 fish in this same bait. Bundle up and get out there! Pay close attention to your moon times and be sure to stay all the way till dark because that’s been the magic hour lately ! Good luck 👍
