Net tips from Elmer Heyob Central Ohio Muskies Inc.
Here is a great tip from Elmer Heyob of Central, Ohio on holding a fish in the net when you are alone.
Guys were curious how I hold the net at the boat when by myself. Every boat will be a little different, obviously. but mine works great as shown in the picture. I have two of the little “boat clips” just inside the boat you can’t see that hold the heavy tarp strap you see tight on the handle with the first couple inches of hoop laying on the pad that prevents the net from twisting.
For those of you who wanted to know How I latch my net to the boat to make it hands free. I use the short heavy tarp straps, use two nice boat line clips spaced according to the strap length needed to pin handle tight to the gunnel, like in photo, and you need to have part of the hoop across (up on) the gunnel to keep the net from twisting. My wide gunnel makes this all easy plus my non slip step on the boat pad was strategically placed there. FYI, I will be putting a replacement bag net order together soon. LOKI also has complete muskie nets for those who need one. As mentioned before, they will equip it with the smaller mesh size I recommend instead of the stock size at request.
