Trailer light issues is something that we all deal with.  I hate trailer lights.  Some of the most frustrated that I have been has resulted from trailer lights malfunctioning.  Over the years of putting a boat in and out of the water I have tried everything, unhooking the lights before backing the trailer in, cleaning the connections and even changing the bulbs.  The only thing that seems to work is going all LED lights on my trailer.  Now for some of us this is an easy switch and for others (like myself) it is a little more involved.  I have attached a video from X2O Angling Outdoors where they show you how to install new LED backlights to your trailer.  I hope you enjoy!
