Guidelines with Tony Grant of Muskie Lodge; Cave Run, KY

Current conditions on Kentucky’s Cave Run Lake are following its fall patterns, water temps 65-67 and falling with lake levels at just under about 2 feet below summer pool and falling slightly.

Weeds are in great shape and easily visible for easy edge casting. Fish have been found on these weed edges inside and out, rubber, jerks and big blades have been the top producer. Water temps have finally fell in past few days and live bait can be very effective.

This past week was our Hoe Down week at The Muskie Lodge and guests had a great week with even a few big girls starting to show, over the fish for week.

Top waters have also started to produce as well, Fat Bastard’s and TopRaiders are pretty much standard here and this year is no different Medusa’s, Bull Dawgs took most of the fish but Red October Tubes and small cranks accounted for some. Live bait will be a big producer from here and throughout the rest of season and can be purchased along with needed rigs at Crash’s Landing. Bigger rubber will continue to be a main stay through mid December.

November 6th and 7th has the Musky Hunter 2 day tournament here on Cave Run and sign ups can be done until Friday (Nov. 5) at 7 pm either online or at Crash’s Landing, $250 per team $500 Pop’s BBQ for big fish – no live bait allowed – using PMTT rules. Fishing should be at its prime.

Also Cave Run Guide Service and the Muskie Lodge has openings for guided trips or lodging for those on their own through mid December see more at kymuskie.com or Phone 606-776-6567 to book or with any questions about tournament.
