Guide Lines with Thad Hinshaw: Illinois Muskies

Water temps are currently ranging in the low to mid 60’s right now.

As the water temps start to warm up here in Central Illinois, so is the fishing.

We are getting fish trolling out over deeper water where the shad are staged before going up along the shore to spawn. The shallower running,  high vibration baits on short lines have been out producing larger profile baits on planer boards on longer lines.
We are also contacting fish on blade baits and slow steady reeled shallow crankbaits over the weeds in 6-8 foot of water.
Warm days in the 80’s will continue to raise the musky’s metabolism and the action should just get better for us.
