Guide Lines with Jeremy Burris: Fox Chain of Lakes, IL Report
The Fox River below the Fox Chain O’ Lakes has started to produce some quality fish! However, the current drought making navigation difficult on the chain has made for a tough decision by the Fox Waterways Agency to shut the flood gates at McHenry dam. This has resulted in a significant drop in water levels the past week and now the Fox River is at an all time spring low. The low water mixed with a 80 degree warming trend has increased the water temps to right around 60 degrees and the muskies are beginning to stage for the spawn. Areas holding fish are scour holes below dams and deep current seams off the main river channel! Hot baits have been the Llungen lures Rattlin’ Shad and Little Claw Twitch baits by B&N Tackle.
Good Luck,
Jeremy Burris
