Guide Lines with Andrew Schiera: Fox Chain of Lakes
Fox Chain of Lakes 7/4 – 7/11
Our water levels here on the Fox Chain of Lakes in northern Illinois are back to normal summer pool height +1″.
As we made our way into the 1st week of July, our water temps were in excess of 80゚ (For the end of June & first few days of July.) Cooler rains in July 6th and 7th have pushed some of our big fish back onto the flats and primary edges in the 7 to 8′ range. Lots of our shallow weeds have died with the low pool height and hot water temperatures associated with the last 2 weeks of June.
Water temperatures on Sunday July 11th are 77.5゚.
Our water level is back to normal pool, (up 4-5″) and the shallower fish have been caught on single bladed bucktails, twitch baits or pull/pause presentations.
If vegetation is not producing our open water program has been producing better fish over schools of shad over 20-30′ of water with mid and reg sized Medusa’s.
