Fishing Report from Captain Ken Trail-Virginia
Client, Danny Witmer, ends his dry spell on another
SloFlo glide bait fish this week!
MH Fishing Report
2/22/21
As predicted the big girls are starting to show up on the outside
areas of their spawning locations on the New river! Water
temperatures on both rivers is from the mid 30’s to 40. Water
color is phenomenal on both rivers. The bite was on fire all
week, and we caught multiple heavy fish. SloFlo glide baits and
Red October tubes doing most of the work for me! The glide
baits we have been fishing aggressively and getting those
reaction strikes in this prime water color. We have been fishing
the Red October’s a couple different ways from bottom
bouncing to fishing them a little more erratic up higher in the
water column. These next 4 weeks should be awesome, as long
as high water doesn’t get us. We are still experiencing well
above average flows and this is helping congregate the musky
on the James and makes for easy pickings. Guys have been
focusing on deeper eddie pockets and having success with a
variety of lures. If you’d like to experience the James or New
river in VA give me a call!
