Final Details Announced For Nicolet College’s Musky Seminar March 26 & April 2
RHINELANDER, Wisconsin — Final details are in place for Nicolet College’s third Musky Seminar to be held March 26 and April 2.
Participants can attend one or both sessions, which will be held in the Northwoods Center on the Nicolet College campus, located one mile south of Rhinelander just off Hwy. G.
Ten different classes are planned for the two-day event. Seminars offered March 26 are geared for people new to musky fishing, while those scheduled for April 2 will help more experienced musky hunters put more fish in their boat.
“All of the class sessions are focused on giving people the knowledge and skills they need so they can hit the water running when musky season opens in May,” said Steve Heiting, Fishing Hall of Fame inductee and the event’s lead presenter. “If there’s a secret to catching muskies regularly, it’s putting together a whole bunch of little things and doing them correctly.”
Joining Heiting in presenting seminars are northwoods guides Scott Biscobing, Ken Jackson and Rob Manthei. The schedule and session topics are as follows:
Saturday, March 26
10 a.m. — Basics Of Musky Fishing
11 a.m. — Landing & Release
Noon — Catered lunch
12:30 p.m. — The Right Stuff: Gear Up Correctly
1:30 p.m. — Examining Area Waters
2:30 p.m. — Exploring “New” Waters
3:30 p.m. – Question and answer session with the presenters
Saturday, April 2
10 a.m. — Make Muskies Bite
11 a.m. — Understand Feeding Windows
Noon — Catered lunch
12:30 p.m. — Moving Waters: Fishing In Current
1:30 p.m. — Successful Tactics For Open Water
2:30 p.m. — Livebait Tactics
3:30 p.m. — Question and answer session with the presenters
Cost is $60 for one day and $100 for both days. Lunch, a welcome bag, and the chance at door prizes are included in the registration fee.
Nicolet College held Musky Seminars in 2018 and 2019, but had to skip the past two years because of the pandemic. “Thankfully, it looks like that’s behind us now,” Heiting said. “And mask mandates have been lifted at Nicolet.”
